Tillamook, OR

We've made it partway down the Oregon coast now, after spending last night in Astoria with a friend of my mothers. Today is our next day off, so relaxing and seeing how thigs go. Currently sitting at a RV park/tent campground in sight of the Tillamook factory (I can see the sign from where I'm sitting.. it's basically across the street. Will have to upload videos at a later date, as this isn't currently powered. Sprinted down to Tillamook yesterday, and I'm damn sore today, so it's good to have a day of rest again. I think our next day of rest is going to be in about 5 days in the northern reaches of CA. We need to be averaging aroud 75 miles daily for 10 days to make it back in a reasonable amount of time, which is not going to be easy for that many days in a row.

While it was a free frame replacement it turns out when you're also replacing your rear wheel, front cogs, drive train, and rear cogs it's a bit of an expensive trip o the bike shop. Seriously sometimes it feels like the front fork and handlebars are the only things to have made it. Oh, and my tent was in tatters, so were my shoes. But I was THERE. After the heat (and then rain) we headed further south on the trail and decided to pop in to Margaret River (WA's Napa) via Ferguson Valley which the trail passes straight through. I'll say, like Napa, a lot of the locations are clearly built at great expense, only to produce medicore wine. That said, I made it into a shop and replaced one of the rotors on my brakes that had gotten bent and met some people that were super excited about bikepacking becoming a thing in Western Australia.
